LITHIUM Systems Ltd has been at the top of its game for ten years providing Information Technology services and support to small businesses throughout the UK.
The Alloa based business is now recruiting two additional engineers after recently expanding into new premises. “We’ve weathered the downturn quite well” said Stephen Franklyn, co-owner of Lithium Systems. “As our client list has recently grown it’s now time to ramp up our staff. We provide IT services to companies that don’t have their own in-house support.”

We’re Microsoft small business server specialists and take responsibility for all aspects of computer systems as well as supplying hardware and design networks.”
The business partnership of Stephen Franklyn and George Aitkenhead began in October 2003 when they opened Lithium Systems with one client. Stephen is responsible for business development and George oversees technical matters. Both men have engineering backgrounds, were next-door-neighbours, and later colleagues when they both worked for Digital Equipment Corporation in South Queensferry.
“I left DEC before it was taken over by Motorola and spent nine years working with IBM products. I was also assisting local small businesses with IT issues. When George was made redundant following the closure of Motorola we decided to work for ourselves. We approached Business Gateway Clackmannanshire who helped us with start-up grants and training courses. We have a good relationship with Business Gateway having taken them on as a client in the early years and we’ve just returned to them for more support.” said Stephen.
